AIM Christian Fellowship has been serving the community of Appleton, Warrington, since 1987. It was in 1986, as the area of Appleton was beginning to grow with new housing, that a small group of Christian’s, some who were moving in to the area, realised that the area of new housing didn’t have immediate local access to a church. After praying about the situation, it was decided a church should be “planted” as near to the new housing development as possible and a suitable place to meet was sought. An approach was made to Appleton Parish Council to enquire if it would be possible to hire Appleton Parish Hall as a venue for a church service. The Parish Council was agreeable and on the 13th September 1987 we held our first service and we have been meeting there every week since!
At that time we were being supported by the Home Missions Department of the Independent Methodist Connexion and, in time, we successfully applied to become a church in the Independent Methodist denomination.
Under our name, we often write 3 things which we have always identified as being important characteristics of our church – “Bible Based, Prayer Orientated & Spirit Led” This phrase was coined by one of our founding members and has always been at the heart of who we are and what we are about.
We have always placed great emphasis on reaching out to the community as we believe that the Good News about Jesus is a privilege to share and is life changing. It is for this reason that you will always be welcome at AIM Christian Fellowship – whoever you are, wherever you have been, whatever you have done in life. We like to live like a family – many different individuals with all our little quirks, but held together because of our love for Jesus and His love for us.
We have grown and changed since 1987, people have come and gone, but the invitation remains the same for everyone – come and see for yourself what God has done for us.
